BC Deaf Sports Launches Sport Interpreting Grant Program
BC Deaf Sports is pleased to announce the launch of the Sport Interpreting Grant Program. Members of BC Deaf Sports can now apply for sport interpreters through a simple registration process that can be found on our website.
The BC Deaf Sports Federation has received funding from the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural development that is to be used for interpreting services for athletes across the province participating in community sport and recreational programming. This funding is designed to remove a key barrier faced by the deaf community and create an accessible avenue for sport participation in the province. We gratefully thank the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development for this support.
The goals of BCDSF through this grant is to minimize the gaps in the Long Term Athlete Development framework. This will follow the LTAD framework that was published by the Canadian Deaf Sports Association (CDSA) in 2014. This mean focusing on activities that fit into the Active Start, Fundamentals and Learn to Train stages of LTAD. For more information on these stages and the LTAD model please go to: https://bcdeafsports.bc.ca/long-term-athlete-development/
